The Experience

Opened in 2010, MetLife Stadium is one of the most significant venues in American sports — the shared home of the Giants and Jets, host of Super Bowl XLVIII, and now the venue for the single most watched sporting event in the world: the 2026 FIFA World Cup Final.

Inside

The Stadium

  • 82,500 capacity — one of the largest NFL stadiums; field expanded for World Cup 2026 by removing 1,740 corner seats to meet FIFA pitch width requirements
  • Three main seating tiers: lower (100s), mezzanine (200s), and upper (300s) — plus premium Club level and multiple suite tiers
  • Four large video boards positioned below the 300 level in each corner — visible from every area of the stadium
  • 200 Level Sidelines (Mezzanine Club) have exclusive access to an indoor club lounge — the only weather-protected seating tier below the upper deck overhang
  • Manhattan skyline visible from the upper west side sections — one of the most spectacular backdrop views in American sport
  • No roof — fully open-air; New Jersey weather is a genuine planning factor for all events, especially in summer
Day Of

Arrive Ready

  • 2 hours early minimum for World Cup Final and major fixtures — the stadium's scale and New Jersey location means transit queuing is a genuine factor
  • Meadowlands Rail Line shuttle trains from Secaucus Junction — the primary transit option; a new $35 million busway has been built specifically for the World Cup
  • No roof or overhang on upper levels — New Jersey summer can include afternoon thunderstorms; check the forecast and plan accordingly
  • 200 Level Sideline Club members have indoor lounge access — the most weather-protected non-suite option in the building
  • Rideshare congestion post-match at this scale will be severe — pre-arrange your vehicle and exit route before entering
Schedule & History

Events & Schedule

Eight World Cup 2026 matches — Brazil, France, Germany, England, Morocco, Senegal — culminating in the Final on July 19. The most watched single sporting event in human history, held at one stadium, one afternoon.

NFL
Giants · Jets

New York Giants & Jets

  • Two NFL teams share MetLife Stadium — both play full home schedules from September through January
  • Super Bowl XLVIII (2014) hosted here — the first outdoor cold-weather Super Bowl in NFL history (Seattle 43, Denver 8)
  • Major concerts, college football, and special events — MetLife Stadium has hosted over 600 major events since opening
  • Giants–Jets stadium sharing is unique in the NFL — the only current example of two teams co-occupying a venue with no branding exclusivity

The Most Watched Event in History

The FIFA World Cup Final is watched by approximately 50% of the entire world population — more than the Olympics, Champions League, Super Bowl, and Formula 1 combined in any given year. The 2026 Final at MetLife Stadium on July 19 will be watched by approximately one billion people simultaneously. There is no comparable single event. If this is on your itinerary, contact us immediately — this is the hardest ticket in world sport.

Group Stage Headliners

Brazil, France, Germany, England

The five group-stage matches here feature four of the most followed national teams in world football: Brazil (June 13), France (June 16, 22 via Senegal opponent), Germany (June 25), and England (June 27). Each group match is a genuinely elite fixture in its own right.

New York

The City

10 miles from Manhattan — the greatest city in the world for an international sporting event. Any group attending a World Cup fixture at MetLife should plan at minimum two to three days in New York before or after the match.

Seating Map

Three main tiers — lower (100s), mezzanine (200s), upper (300s) — each with sideline, corner, and endzone options. The 200 Level Sidelines (Mezzanine Club) offer the best weather protection of any non-suite seating. Upper sections have no overhang.

Tier Breakdown
01
100 Level Sidelines — Best Seats
Sections 109–117 (east), 134–135, 137, 139–140, 142–143 (west). Adjacent to the premium Coaches Club on the east. West side sections 137–140 are the best lower-level seats without club pricing — section 139 at the 50-yard line is the most sought-after non-premium position. 31–35 rows per section; rows 24–31 deliver the best sightlines.
02
100 Level Corner
Sections 104, 106, 108, 118, 121, 123, 129, 131, 133, 144, 146, 148. Unique diagonal views with excellent proximity to end-zone scoring and the four corner video boards. Higher rows (toward row 37–45) give broader field views.
03
100 Level Endzone
Sections 101, 103, 149, 124, 126, 128. Up to 48 rows — row selection is critical. Mid rows (~30) balance proximity to the action with fast concourse access and partial 200-level overhang cover. Back rows offer weather protection; front rows give the closest field experience.
04
200 Level Sidelines (Mezzanine Club) — Best Value Premium
Sections 208–220, 232–244. Larger seats than other mezzanine sections with exclusive indoor club lounge access. Best weather-protected seating below suite level. Popular at halftime and during inclement weather — a meaningful advantage for New Jersey spring and summer events.
05
200 Level Endzone
Sections 202–207, 221–231, 245–250. Mezzanine A (lower, 12–15 rows) and B (slightly higher, 15–18 rows). Mezzanine B sections are almost entirely covered by the upper deck overhang — the best weather protection of any endzone seating option.
06
300 Level (Upper) — Most Affordable
Sections 301–350. No overhang — fully exposed to weather. Sections 313–314 and 338–339 directly on the 50-yard line for upper midfield value. Entry tunnel at row 5 divides sections into lower (rows 1–4) and upper (5–26) portions. Avoid sections 307, 320, 332, 345 if large section size is a concern.

Matchday

Inside the Stadium

What to know before you arrive — including the weather and transit factors that make this venue unique in this series.

Weather
Fully Open-Air — Plan for New Jersey
MetLife Stadium has no roof and no overhang on upper levels. New Jersey in June and July brings afternoon thunderstorms, humidity, and occasionally extreme heat. The 200 Level Mezzanine Club sideline has indoor lounge access — the only non-suite weather refuge in the building. For the World Cup Final on July 19, expect peak July conditions. Light rain gear and sun protection are worth packing regardless of the forecast on game day.
Transit
Meadowlands Rail — Secaucus Junction
The Meadowlands Rail Line shuttle runs between Secaucus Junction and the stadium on event days — no regular service outside of events. A new $35 million busway has been constructed specifically for World Cup 2026. Transit from Penn Station to Secaucus is ~10 minutes on NJ Transit; from there, the Meadowlands shuttle connects to the stadium. Plan for queuing at Secaucus before and after major events — the capacity constraints here are well-documented.
Scale
82,500 — Plan Accordingly
MetLife Stadium is significantly larger than most venues in this series — 82,500 seats means entry, concourses, and exit all take longer than at a 65,000-seat venue. Arrive 2 hours early for World Cup matches. For the Final specifically, all arrival and departure timelines should be extended by at least 30 minutes beyond what you'd plan for a standard group-stage fixture at this venue.
Getting Here

Transit, Parking
& Entry

The Meadowlands Rail shuttle from Secaucus Junction is the most reliable arrival method. Newark (EWR) is ~15 minutes away. New York Penn Station to Secaucus is ~10 minutes on NJ Transit — making Manhattan hotels the practical base for most visiting groups.

NJ Transit / Meadowlands Rail
Penn Station → Secaucus → Stadium
NJ Transit from New York Penn Station to Secaucus Junction (~10 min), then the Meadowlands Rail Line shuttle to the stadium (no regular service — event-only). A new $35 million busway supplements rail capacity specifically for World Cup 2026. The most reliable arrival method from Manhattan. Plan for queuing at Secaucus post-match — the single-track Meadowlands line creates bottlenecks when 82,000 people are trying to leave simultaneously.
Airports
EWR ~15 Min · JFK ~40 Min · LGA ~30 Min
Newark Liberty (EWR) is the most practical airport for direct stadium access — NJ Transit runs from the airport to Penn Station and onward to Secaucus. JFK and LaGuardia serve the New York metro area and connect via Penn Station. For international arrivals, EWR has the broadest international route coverage and the most direct stadium connection.
Parking
On-Site — Pre-Purchase Essential
Extensive parking at the Meadowlands Sports Complex — pre-purchase passes are essential for World Cup fixtures. VIP parking included with suite packages provides significantly faster exit. Post-match rideshare (Uber/Lyft) congestion at 82,500-person events is severe — pre-arrange your vehicle with a staging location before entering the stadium. Private transport is the recommended option for the Final.

Address

MetLife Stadium

1 MetLife Stadium Dr, East Rutherford, NJ 07073

During World Cup 2026 the stadium operates as "New York New Jersey Stadium" per FIFA policy. The Manhattan skyline is visible from the west side upper levels on clear days — arrive early to appreciate the view before kickoff.

Where to Stay

Hotels & Neighborhoods

MetLife Stadium is in New Jersey — but the transit connection to Manhattan is fast and reliable. Most World Cup groups choose to stay in New York and take NJ Transit to the match.

Best Overall Base

Midtown Manhattan

The optimal balance of hotel supply, dining, cultural access, and transit connection. Penn Station is the departure point for NJ Transit to Secaucus — most Midtown hotels are a 5–10 min walk or subway ride from it. Our standard placement for World Cup Final groups.

Most Characterful

Lower Manhattan / SoHo / Tribeca

The most distinctive New York neighbourhood experience — Financial District, Brooklyn Bridge, and the World Trade Center area. NJ Transit from Penn Station or the PATH train via Jersey City provides connection to the stadium.

Most Convenient

Jersey City / Hoboken

Directly across the Hudson from Manhattan — closer to the stadium by car or transit than most Manhattan locations. Strong hotel supply with lower prices than equivalent Manhattan properties. PATH train to Manhattan for city exploration.

On-Site

East Rutherford / Meadowlands

Limited hotel supply immediately surrounding the Meadowlands — the most logistically direct option for the Final. Eliminates all transit complexity on the biggest match day of the tournament. Book extremely early if available options exist.

Luxury

  • Four Seasons Hotel New York — Midtown flagship
  • The Peninsula New York — Midtown
  • Mandarin Oriental New York — Columbus Circle
  • The Standard High Line — Meatpacking District

4-Star

  • Marriott Marquis Times Square — direct Penn Station access
  • Westin New York Times Square
  • Hilton New York Midtown
  • Hyatt Regency Jersey City — most convenient for stadium

Upper-Midrange

  • Jersey City properties — closest to stadium, best value
  • Hoboken boutique hotels — waterfront views, PATH access
  • Midtown select-service — Penn Station proximity priority
  • Matched to date, inventory, and group size

The World Cup Final on July 19 will create the highest single-event hotel demand in New York City history. Every hotel within 30 minutes of Penn Station will be full. Book as early as humanly possible — ideally 12+ months in advance for any July fixture, and immediately for the Final.

New York — Beyond the Match

Central Park, the Met, MoMA, the Brooklyn Bridge — New York needs no introduction. Plan at minimum two full days around any World Cup fixture here. The High Line and the Hudson Yards area are the best recent additions to the city's self-guided walking experience. Brooklyn — DUMBO, Williamsburg, and Prospect Park — offers a completely different version of New York worth half a day for any international visitor who has only seen Manhattan.

FAQ

Common Questions

First-time visitor answers, plainly stated.

It is the hardest ticket in world sport — full stop. Official FIFA allocation is heavily oversubscribed. Secondary market availability exists but at extraordinary prices. Hospitality packages through official channels (On Location) are more consistently available but at significant cost. Our honest advice: contact us immediately, pursue every channel simultaneously, and be realistic about budget. We will advise on what's genuinely available versus what's being advertised by less reliable sources. Group-stage matches at this venue (Brazil, France, Germany, England) are significantly more attainable and are genuinely elite fixtures in their own right.

NJ Transit from Penn Station to Secaucus Junction (~10 min), then the Meadowlands Rail shuttle to the stadium. For the Final, plan for queuing at Secaucus on return — the single-track Meadowlands line is the primary bottleneck for post-event transit. A new $35 million busway has been built to supplement rail capacity for World Cup 2026. Private transport from a pre-arranged pickup location near the stadium is the most comfortable option for the Final.

Fully open-air with no roof or overhang on upper levels. New Jersey in June and July brings afternoon thunderstorms, humidity, and peak summer heat — not as severe as Houston or Miami, but worth planning for. The 200 Level Mezzanine Club sideline sections have indoor lounge access for weather refuge. Bring light rain gear and sun protection for all fixtures, and check the forecast the morning of your match.

Absolutely — this is one of the strongest group-stage schedules of any venue in the tournament. Brazil vs Morocco on June 13. France vs Senegal on June 16. Ecuador vs Germany on June 25. England on June 27. Any one of these would be an exceptional standalone match at any other venue. At MetLife, with the Manhattan backdrop and the stadium's scale, they become genuinely memorable events. We strongly recommend pursuing group-stage tickets at this venue as a realistic alternative if the Final is not attainable.

FIFA's standard policy removes commercial naming rights for the duration of every World Cup. MetLife — named after the insurance company — becomes "New York New Jersey Stadium" for all World Cup purposes. The same rule applies across all 16 venues. The stadium itself is completely unchanged; only the tournament-period name differs.
