About Bethpage Black:
Though this is the first year the Bethpage Black Course will host the PGA Championship, it is no stranger to golf majors. The Black Course became the first publicly owned and operated course to host the U.S. Open in 2002 and has also hosted the Northern Trust, which it is scheduled to host again in the future. Opened in 1936, the course is the most difficult of the five courses at Bethpage State Park and is currently ranked #5 on Golf Digest’s America’s 20 Toughest Golf Courses. The esteemed course is also one of the featured courses in the EA Sports video games Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11, and Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12. The golfer who can best navigate the Black Course at the 2019 championship and outlast 155 other players will win a piece of $10 million purse and of course, the Wanamaker Trophy.
