The WGC Dell Technologies Match Play golf tournament is one of the premier PGA events. The Dell Match Play tournament is a favorite among golf fans thanks to its unique format, which features a match play structure rather than the stroke format that is used in most PGA tournaments. In fact, some PGA golfers and experts consider the event to be on par with the four major PGA tournaments. The knockout format is something completely different when it comes to the PGA calendar, and its intriguing matchups and intense play make it a fun event to watch. The Austin Country Club has been located at its current site since 1984. However, the country club has been around since 1899. Legendary golf course architect, Pete Dye developed the course at its current location. His design led to the Austin Country Club having numerous challenging traits. The par-71 course will provide the tournament winner with a $1.8 million share of the purse.

DELL MATCH PLAY HISTORY:
The current World Golf Championship format began in 1999. The 2018 event in Austin marked the 20th match play competition. It was the third year the match play event has taken place in Austin. Prior to its arrival at the Austin Country Club, the tournament was played in five different golf course locations. Courses in California, Arizona and Australia have all been home to the annual golf tournament.
Tiger Woods holds the most all-time wins at the event with three. Geoff Ogilvy and Jason Day have each won the event two times. Bubba Watson took home the WGC Dell Match Play tournament trophy in 2018, gaining his 11th tour win on March 25.
The tournament pits the best on the PGA circuit against one another in a fantastic knockout competition, and the 2019 competition will surely be one to watch.
