Why should you attend the 2019 NBA All-Star Game in Charlotte, NC?
Your Vote Matters
Every February, the NBA hosts the featured event of NBA All-Star Weekend, an exhibition game matching a mix of the league’s star players, who are drafted by the two players with the most votes from their respective conferences.
50% of the votes to select the the starting lineup are comprised of fan votes, while NBA players and media each hold 25% of the vote. With fans holding the majority of the vote, its likely that the leagues best and most popular players will be chosen as starters in the game, and it means you may just see the majority of players you voted for facing off.
Fan voting opens on Christmas Day, December 25th at 10 a.m. CST and ends on January 21st at 10:59 p.m. CST. Fans can vote by searching on Google, at NBA.com or on the official NBA App. There will be 5 “2-for-1 Days,” allowing fans to have their votes count twice on Jan. 3, Jan. 4, Jan. 10, Jan. 11 and Jan. 21. The NBA All-Star Game starters will be revealed Thursday, January 24 on TNT during TNT NBA Tip-Off, and the reserves will be revealed on Thursday, Jan. 31.
On January 3rd, 10th and 17th, fan voting updates will be shared.
HOW TO VOTE:
NBA.com/NBA App: Visit NBA.com or use the official NBA App on iOS or Android to fill out a ballot (one per day) from a desktop or mobile browser. Fans can select up to two guards and three frontcourt players from each conference.
Google: Visit Google.com or go to the Google Search App and vote by searching “NBA Vote,” “NBA All-Star Vote,” or your favorite team or player. Fans can submit votes for 10 unique players per day.
The New All-Star Game Format
Last year's All-Star Game was the first ever to allow the team captains (selected by majority vote from their conference) to select players from the rest of the starters and the reserves, regardless of the conference they play in.
In 2018, chosen team captains LeBron James and Stephen Curry led the following roster:
Team Lebron Roster:
Head Coach: Dwane Casey (Toronto Raptors)
DeMarcus Cousins (New Orleans Pelicans)
Anthony Davis (New Orleans Pelicans)
Kevin Durant (Golden State Warriors)
Kyrie Irving (Boston Celtics)
LeBron James (Cleveland Cavaliers)
Team Stephen Roster:
Head Coach: Mike D'Antoni (Houston Rockets)
Giannis Antetokounmpo (Milwaukee Bucks)
Stephen Curry (Golden State Warriors)
DeMar DeRozan (Toronto Raptors)
Joel Embiid (Philadelphia 76ers)
James Harden (Houston Rockets)
The game is known for its playful and liberating nature that allows players to make bold moves, often attempting slam dunks and alley-oops.
